So I am moving into a new apartment in August which means once again I get to decorate on an uber slim budget. Since my husband is away for work, I get to decorate HOWEVER I WANT. And dammit I am going to make it pink. He hates pink. The first thing he said when we were decorating our last place, ” NO PINK!” Well I protest and say that this is my house and it will be pink!!
Now I know what you’re thinking: pink is tacky and too Barbie. Maybe you are right. However bright pinks when paired with a deep chocolate translates to uber modern color combination. Check out the HGTV show Colorsplash with David Bromstad to see what I am talking about. I like color and I’m NOT afraid to use it!
As I went into Target this morning the last thing I said to my girlfriend Elizabeth was, “I’m in Target. This is going to get ugly.” To my surprise, it did anything but! I was greeted with their $1 – $2.50 bins of crap and happiness — and to my delight I found a pink measuring cup, a pink dishrack, a bottle of Palmolive dish detergent, a large Spic N Span Anti Bac Cleaner, a Spic N Span Scrubby for washing dishes, and even a pink pizza slicer — Just $1!
I happened down the aisles; Target is starting to stock their College 2010 gear. Still a bit on the expensive side. It’ll come down in price closer to the beginning of Sept (Labor Day). On one of their little back aisles I found these pink and lavender plastic dishes — I call them the $1.99 special because each set sells for $1.99! The cups, bowls, and plates are sold in sets of 4 for $1.99. The large mixing bowls are $1.99 a piece, (I bought two!)
On the website this set sells for $21.99 plus shipping for a 38 piece set so I recommend going into your local Target for this deal. I’m not sure why you’d need 38 pieces of plastic dinnerware?
